Meet our Professional Eye Care Hawaii Staff

Dr. Grant Miyashiro

Dr. Grant T. Miyashiro was raised in Pearl City, Oahu. He attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, receiving his Bachelors of Science degree in 1991. He earned his O.D. degree (with distinction) from the Pacific University College of Optometry four years later, and went on to complete externships at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hickam Air Force Base 15th Medical Group, and the Pacific University Family Vision Centers (Downtown Portland, South East Portland). During this time, he was the recipient of the United States Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and upon graduation in 1995, he served as an Optometrist at the United States Naval Hospital in Yokosuka Japan, and as adjunct faculty for the Kikuchi College of Optometry. Dr. Miyashiro also mentored Japanese medical students rotating through the eye clinic.  Dr. Miyashiro returned to Hawai’i in 1998 to join the Kauai Medical Clinic. In June of 2000 he moved to Hilo to establish his independent office, and has been here ever since. Dr. Miyashiro is certified by the National and State Boards in Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Hawaii Optometric Association. In addition, he serves as a vision screening consultant for the Rotary Club of South Hilo and is a regular speaker for Ke Anuenue, a local organization promoting community and public health. In his free time, Dr. Miyashiro enjoys cultivating a native Hawaiian forest at his Waiakea Uka home. Other interests include Brazilian jiujitsu, yoga, and subsistence farming.

Christina Blanchard, MBA

Christina is our Chief Operating Officer.  She was born and raised in upstate New York, and moved to New York City in 2012.  There, she worked as a business consultant while completing her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Management.   

Christina moved to Hilo with her boyfriend in 2016 to explore new opportunities.  In her free time, Christina loves exploring the beautiful island of Hawaii as well as hiking, practicing pilates, and spinning..


Dr. Ian Kawamoto

Originally from Hilo and a graduate of Waiakea High School, Dr. Ian Kawamoto’s philosophy is to provide each patient with optimal vision solutions and personal service. His areas of interest include diabetic dietary management, vision therapy, and myopia prevention. He is a certified orthokeratologist for Bausch & Lomb’s Vision Shaping Treatment. At Eye Care Hawaii, Dr. Kawamoto provides multiple high quality services including: comprehensive eye examinations, pediatric eye exams, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment, eye injuries – adults and children, contact lens services and specialty fittings, and co-management of laser and cataract surgeries.

Dr. Kawamoto received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and earned an Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After practicing for 13 years in Nevada and California, he is excited to reconnect with his hometown community in Hilo. In his spare time, Dr. Kawamoto enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf or tennis.

Dr. Rolin Otomo

Raised in Hilo, Dr. Rolin Otomo joins Eye Care Hawaii with several years of clinical experience and has been in private clinical practice since 2008. He earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University, completing clinical externships at: The Koetting Associates in St. Louis, Missouri; Malcolm Grow Medical Center in Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland; the Spark Matsunaga VA Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii; and the Pacific University College of Optometry clinics in Portland, Oregon and Forest Grove, Oregon. He also is member of the American Optometric Association and the Hawaii Optometric Association. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oregon State University and graduated from Hilo High School.

Dr. Otomo is passionate about helping others and takes pride in serving the community where he grew up. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Otomo also enjoys spending his free time surfing, fishing, free diving, and traveling.

Jaynice A.

Jaynice graduated from Hawaii Community College with an AA in Liberal Arts and transferred to UH-Hilo, where she is pursuing a double Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Communications.  She is an active member of the community as a co-founder of Nà Wáhine Aloha 'Àina (NaWA'À), a grassroots organization founded by a small group of female, UH-Hilo students during the Mauna Kea movement.  When she’s not working, you can find her at home spending quality time with her family and getting a good workout or cruising with friends and going on adventures.

Justine K.

Bringing her aloha spirit to Eye Care Hawaii, Justine was born and raised right in the heart of Hilo. Carrying over 3 years of customer service experience as she was a former CNA, she's passionate about helping others and provides friendly services. Justine enjoys what she does here with the team, and while she's out of the office, she spends quality time with her husband and two kids..

Natasha S.

Natasha St Arnault  was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. She graduated in 1999 from American Schooling of Correspondence in Lansing, Illinois. Over the years Natasha has worked  at various places such as GMAC Mortgage  (Managers Assistant), GEMINI Observatory (Front Desk Receptionist), HPM Building Supply (Human Resources Clerk) and Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Gift Shop (Greeter). She brings over 7yrs of Receptionist & Customer Service experience to Eye Care Hawaii. Natasha is actively involved with her church and is also a Sunday school teacher. On her days off she enjoys having family  BBQ's, going fishing with her husband, riding horses and baking assorted deserts.

Heather K.

Heather was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. She graduated from Hilo High School in 2008 and went off to complete her Associates Degree in Sheridan, Wyoming. In her spare time she enjoys going home to her two little rascal boys, hanging out with family and friends and playing volleyball. She has been working with Eye Care Hawaii for 4 years now and considers the team to be her second family.

Ciara C.

Ciara was born on the island of Oahu and raised in Hilo, HI.  She graduated from Kea’au High School.  She is the mother of two beautiful girls and during her free time, she loves spending time with her family.

Chelsey R.

Chelsey was born in Hilo, and lived in Las Vegas for 6 years before moving back.  She is the Administrative Manager and an Optician here at Eye Care Hawaii.  Chelsey is the mother to a beautiful, outgoing, and energetic daughter who enjoys singing and dancing. When she’s not working, she enjoys watching her boyfriend play softball and goes hunting.  She also spends her spare time with friends and family.

Kiana K.

Kiana is proud to say that she graduated from Hilo High School. During her free time she goes to the gym, and if she’d not at the gym, she’s spending time with her family. 

Kiana has been working at Eye Care Hawaii for several years now and has grown to love what she does, and she loves to help people in the best way that she can.
